The Most Rev. Nicholas DiMarzio, one of the nation's foremost authorities on immigration, will be the guest speaker at the 14th annual Interfaith Brotherhood-Sisterhood Breakfast of Bergen County on Feb. 21.

DiMarzio, bishop of the Diocese of Camden and chairman of the Migration Committee for the National Conference of Catholic Bishops, will address "Immigration and Multi-Culturalism: Ecumenical and Interreligious Challenges in the New Millennium."

As chairman of the Migration Committee, DiMarzio personally negotiated with Cuban President Fidel Castro to obtain the release of political prisoners. As a longtime leader of the office of management for Catholic Community Services, the bishop's many achievements include mounting a successful resettlement program for Indochinese refugees, directing a resettlement program for some 8,500 Cuban and Haitian immigrants, and initiating an Eastern European resettlement program that helped to reunify 1,100 refugees with their families.
