Dr Sarah Verghis has kindly corrected Zahid Abbas' chronology of religions. However, there is still another 'fact'
that Zahid put up that needs to be put in perspective.
He wrote: ‘Islam is the oldest religion in the world, founded by Adam, and it was
reborn with Abraham and a second time with Muhammad. Between Abraham and Muhammad, Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism and Christianity emerged in this order.
Then Sikhism emerged after the time of Muhammad. These are the six world religions.’
The Bahai faith is widely acknowledged as a world religion with one
encyclopedia listing it as the 'world's fastest growing religion' and the 'second most widespread religion' on Earth today.
In my
reckoning, that would make it seven world religions.
