Beware Of Bahai Teachings Warns Religious Official

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Bahai teachings are deviationists who openly reject the teachings of Al-Quran, a top Islamic official said yesterday.

The Director of Haj Management Department Dr Awang Haji Besar was talking to more than 60 penghulus and kampong ketuas (village headers and leaders) in the Brunei-Muara District who attended a briefing on deviationist teachings.

He said deviationist teachings are not easy to identify because the teachings itself are mixed between the right and wrong concepts.

However, Dr Awang Haji Besar emphasised that once we know its criteria and characteristics then we can determine whether the teachings are right or wrong.

He told the village leaders they are two types of deviationist teachings discovered in the sultanate and they are divided into special and general characteristics.

He said one of them is the 'Bahai teachings', which openly rejects the Al-Quran. One of the objectives of the briefing is to strengthen the 'Akida' towards the effectiveness of leadership through penghulus and kampong ketuas.

The Bahai sect originated in Persia and has been active the world over.

The meeting took place at the Jamee 'Asr Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque in Kiarong.
