Welcome to the
Bahá'í Association
at The University of Georgia

"Blessed is the spot, and the house, and the place, and the city, and the heart, and the mountain, and the refuge, and the cave, and the valley, and the land, and the sea, and the island, and the meadow where mention of God hath been made, and His praise glorified."

- Bahá'u'lláh

Welcome to the Bahá'í Association at the University of Georgia's Web page. We are located in Athens, Georgia. This page is dedicated to be a source of information on the teachings and tenets of the Baha'i Faith. The Constitution of the Bahá'í Association is available for your review.

March 2 through March 21 is the period of Fast. Bahá'ís during this period will refrain from eating or drinking from dawn to dusk. Children, elderly, pregnant, nursing mothers and the sick are among those exempt from observation of the fast. A list of the Sun Rise/Set times for the city of Athens, GA can be found here. The Naval Observatory site can be used to get the Sun or Moon Rise/Set times for any other place.

You can find a moving rendition of the Tablet of the Fast chanted by the Baha'i Youth of Shiraz, Iran. The presentation is in Arabic, but English translation is accompanying the chanting. This is a very large file and as such you may wish to download to your computer first and then play it for the best result. To download, right click on the link above and save to your computer.

Naw-Ruz (New Day) is the Bahá'í new year, which occurs on the date of the vernal equinox, the start of Spring, usually 21 March. It is one of the nine Bahá'í holy days on which work is suspended. (Send a Naw-Ruz greeting card to a friend).

In learning about the Bahá'í Faith you will come across a number of phrases that are unique to the Bahá'í Faith, a Glossary of some of these phrases is provided here for your reference.

The Daily Bahá'í Reading section provides a short reading from the Bahá'í Writings. The information on this page is updated often. We look forward to hearing your suggestions and ideas. Written by the Iranian Supreme Revolutionary Cultural Council in 1991 and signed by Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, this document provides a blueprint for the suppression of the Iranian Baha'i community. Bahá'í Houses of Worship

As gathering places for prayer and meditation, Bahá'í Houses of Worship are buildings that most closely approximate the place of the church, the temple or the mosque in other religions. Yet they are also something more. A pictorial Gallery of these buildings are available for your viewing pleasure.
